Marlla Custom Blinds franchisee helps make a difference

Marla Franchisee helps Becky become more independent

Steve Hartland, the franchisee for Marla Custom blinds has made a difference to a particular customers life. Steve owns the franchise territory for Sidmouth in Devon and was approached by Becky, a lady confined to a wheelchair and who has had her home customised to permit her to become more independent.

Steve contributed to making her life a little easier by installing 3 electrically operated vertical blinds in an angled bay that are controlled as a group from a single channel remote, an electric roller blind in a spare bedroom controlled by a single channel remote, an electric roller blind in the hallway controlled by a single channel remote and 3 electric roller blinds in the main bedroom, 1 blind at the window and 2 blinds on the front of a purpose built low level wardrobe.

The 3 blinds in the main bedroom are controlled by a multi-channel remote, one channel to control the window blind and another channel to control the 2 wardrobe blinds.

To further improve life for Becky, the control of the blinds is to be integrated into the home automation system meaning it will be possible to operate the blinds using Becky’s iPhone. This is a system that is available to all Marla Custom Blinds franchisees in order for them to best meet the customer needs.

Steve loves the independence he now has through running his own franchise and had this to say;

"We're now living the life we always wanted and I am able to spend additional quality time with my family, a pleasure my previous job didn't grant me. The business that's come through the franchise has been good and I'm now in a position where I'm seriously looking at expanding again so that I can keep up with demand. The future looks good!"
